These are six instruments finished winter/spring of 2019.

“The Heron” – a custom concert.  Quilted maple back and sides, Pennsylvania red cedar top, spiral rosette in pink abalone pearl, black bog oak binding, scoop in amboyna burl, bookmatched casuarina fingerboard.

 

The “Humuhumunukunukuapua`a”, which is the state fish of Hawaii.  Another custom concert.  Sycamore back and sides, Pennsylvania red cedar top, asymmetric rosette in pink abalone pearl, casuarina fingerboard, curly koa binding, East Indian rosewood headplate (an old scrap from dumpster-diving at Martin Guitar back in the 1970’s), Alaskan yellow cedar neck.

 

Tenor – sycamore back and sides, Pennsylvania red cedar top, curly sapele binding, black-white-black purfling, red abalone asymetirc rosette, casuarina fingerboard, side sound port, rosewood headplate, spanish cedar neck.

 

Tenor – black walnut back and sides, streaky redwood top, black-red-black purfling, side sound port, curly maple binding, casuarina fingerboard, rosewood headplate (an old scrap from dumpster-diving at Martin Guitar back in the 1970’s), Spanish cedar neck.

This instrument was purchased by a repeat customer for his grandson, and he wanted a bit of customization. So we added his grandson’s name in red abalone pearl (to match the rosette) on the headplate.

 

Tenor – curly maple back and sides, spruce top, 2000-4000 year old black bog oak binding, really nice paua abalone asymmetric rosette, book-matched curly maple headplate, some sort of rosewood fingerboard and bridge (from the lost name bin at the wood store).

 

Concert -curly koa back and sides, Alaskan Yellow Cedar top, which is a bit more mellow than spruce, Alaskan yellow cedar neck, Florida black olive fingerboard and bridge, dogwood root burl headplate, black-white-black purfling, sycamore binding, spiral rosette done in pink abalone heart pearl.
