#32 XL Casuarina

This is a new direction for me, as this is a long-necked tenor.  It is a standard tenor body with a long neck with a 19 inch scale instead of the usual 17 inch scale.  It is tuned the same as a regular tenor which means that the strings are under additional tension, which leads to a brighter tone, and increased volume.  The longer scale also makes the frets a little further apart for those who are more used to playing guitar and/or have large fingers.  Sounds great.

The top is redwood from old water tanks and has a broad curl.  The back and sides are casuarina, one of my favorite woods.  See the blog for more discussion on casuarina (you will not find this wood commercially).  Pennsylvania sycamore binding, black-red-black purfling, pink abalone asymmetric rosette, Alaskan yellow cedar neck with a black walnut spline, bocote fingerboard, headplate and bridge, corian nut, bone saddle.  This has Gotoh planetary tuners.
