The back and sides of this are spalted sycamore from a tree my neighbor took down. Whether it is the sycamore itself, or the effects of the spalting process, but the color is a warm yellow, rather atypical for sycamore. This is paired with a top made of aromatic cedar that grew on my property. The fingerboard, bridge, and headplate are a wood called ‘redheart’, which is Central American. Alaskan yellow cedar neck, Red Sea snail pearl for the rosette, curly koa binding, and a brown and white diagonal purfling. Sounds great and looks dramatic. Not for those of you who want to kind of hide out in the ukulele group.
